About

MiyeHello, my name is Miye Fonseca and I want to welcome you to my Neck Exercises Blog. I am glad you came to visit and learn more about how to improve your neck posture with neck exercises. My goal is to provide you with valuable information about your neck and related areas to relieve neck tension, stress, discomfort or pain.

I became interested in the sports medicine field after having sustained several injuries myself. I enjoyed the aspects of helping others while recovering from an injury and chose to study Physical Therapy. Throughout my career, I found exercises to be the most interesting part of the rehabilitation process. In particular, I enjoy the creativity and helping others return to their full potential.

Why Physical Therapy?

I chose to study Physical Therapy because I like working with a person as a whole and not just particular parts of the body . Physical Therapy studies the whole body’s movement in order to return the body to it’s potential through use of pain relieving methods, massage techniques, mobilizations (not to be confused with manipulation), exercises, and most important, education. We focus on the person’s goals and encourage active participation in their treatment plan. This includes education components such as understanding the problem, correcting the underlying issue, and making lifestyle changes to avoid further injury.

My Qualifications

I attended California State University Sacramento for my Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education/Kinesiology with an emphasis on Pre-Physical Therapy. I then went on to graduate school and received my Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) at University of Southern California. I am a licensed Physical Therapist with a wide range of experience in clinical settings. These are mainly in outpatient orthopedics and sports related injuries with additional experience in neurologic disorders. Other than the neck, I like working with shoulders and knees.

Why am I doing this?

This blog gives me the opportunity to educate more than one person at a time. When I treated at the clinic, I was limited to under an hour per person. I would see them a couple times a week or less frequently depending on the various health insurance plan coverage. Due to the constraints of the healthcare system, I was not always able to address all of the person’s needs.

My primary goal is to share and educate others on having a healthy lifestyle with minimal to no pain in the neck or surrounding areas. I will focus on posture, correct body mechanics, exercises and education on how to make these daily lifestyle changes.

My Interests

When I’m not helping others, I enjoy being outdoors and spending time with my husband and son. I also enjoy reading, photography, playing with technology, entrepreneurship and networking.
